Anyone up for a friendly game in the French Defense? I'm black of course. No time limits and no comp. assistance.

If you were white, KB would have already signed up ;)

I generally like to play the 3 Nd2 lines as White, but see if I can remember enough from what has been played against me :)

I think I can't avoid mate regardless of what I do on the queenside.

Good game. Only my thoughts, but it usually doesn't pay for Black to leave the Kingside so vulnerable. In Nigel Short's book, New Ideas in the French Defence, (1990) he says of the Winawer, "7 Qg4 is a nice move. If there is one variation that might refute the French Winawer then this is most certainly it." It is a real tightrope defence for Black, one stray move and you are dead. I don't think that ...Qa5 and ...c4 helped your cause at all in this game, I can't recall any wins I have had playing ...c4 in any variation of the French, I prefer to keep the option of ...cd4 to open the position up at some point. But then again, I switched to the 6...Qc7 lines a long time ago :)
