This may be useful to people using their ISP's free space allocation to host web pages.

Tiny URL (http://tinyurl.com/) is a site that converts long URLs into short ones.

If I want to direct readers to my English Channel swim page I have to use this URL:

h t t p://www.users.tpg.com.au/adslpu7j/ride/channel.html which abbreviates, via Tiny URL to http://www.tinyurl.com/25pebh
(Yes, you're right. There should be no space in the h t t p but the Chess Chat post editor now automatically inserts the URL tags if you don't space it.)

The Channel page is unlikely to be of interest to chess chatters but I selected it because it was my most recent Tomorrowland update and it serves to illustrate what Tiny URL can do.

It's also possible to use Tiny URL to register your home (index) page. Then a forward slash followed by a file name would also take users direct to the nominated page.

It's handy, and it's a freebie.

Something like that, theres a catch though, no ads, but you need to put a small banner somewhere on your site. Nevertheless, definitely worth it.
