Hmmm.. Seems to have disappeared. I just fired off some feedback here:

I hope they haven't dumped it because it was in the 'sport blogs' section...

I received this response from the Sydney Morning Herald:

Recently you contacted ReaderLink asking for information. Your interest in the newspaper is appreciated.

The following is in response to your inquiry:
Thank you for your comments about the article, "".
Due to copyright restrictions, the Chess blog has been removed.

Your ongoing feedback will help us publish a better newspaper.

Please quote 00103382 if you wish to contact ReaderLink again.

So I am really puzzled now as to what part of the Chess Blog is restricted? Ian writes for the SMH and is presumably paid. The moves are public domain as far as I know. Was it the photos?

I would be interested to hear Ian's side of the story.

Well that is just ridiculous, isn't it?

To paraphrase the SMH, "Thanks for asking the question. We are not going to answer it. Good bye."

Maybe there isn't room for two SMH chess journalists?

Ian writes for the Sun Herlad not the SMH.
The SMH and Sun Herald each have their own editors being Alan Oakley in the case of the SMH and Philip McLean for the Sun Herald.

Yeah but they're both Fairfax, are they not?

Ok, but material from all the Fairfax papers appear on the SMH website.

I was replying to Brian's comment in my post. I should have quoted it to make that clear.

Does Rogers get paid for his blog. SMH might not want to pay him. He should just post it here or on TCG.

Or else he could just as easily start his own free blog. You know, from the heart, like me. It's all from the heart. I'm a heartful bloke.

Come on Chess Players. Make sure the SMH knows that you want to read about the World Championship.

A complaint takes about five minutes here:

The blog may have disappeared but GM Rogers is featured, daily I think, on Adam Spencer's show on 702AM. As I understand it, he also appears on a Victorian radio show. He told me what it was but, for the life of me, I can't bloody remember!!

The equivalent ABC radio station in Melbourne is 774 ABC (I used to know it as 3LO, in same fashion as I still refer to 702 ABC Sydney as 2BL).

The breakfast show is hosted by Red Symonds, of Hey Hey it's Saturday and Skyhooks fame. His kids are enrolled in school chess classes and so, like Adam Spencer, he takes an interest in the chess scene. Ian appears on Red's program at approximately the same time as he does the Sydney spot (ie close to the 6am news bulletin). I believe Ian was scheduled to feature about 3 times a week.

I can't find any Rogers attribution. Is this deliberate?

I have no idea. But it is Rogers.
