Rogers is in a share of the lead on 3.5/4. Wallis and Humphrey are on 2/4. Wallis has a draw with a 2440 GM in round 1, and Humphrey had a draw with a Burmese (=overrated) 2570 IM in round 3. BJ is on 1/4, but looks to have had a really tough draw - his losses all to 2300+ players.

Rogers has run into some Pinoy trouble, losing to Dimakiling and drawing to that shrimp Wesley So (now 4/6).

Meanwhile, Chris Wallis had a draw with GM Susanto Megaranto, and beat FM Geldyev (3.5/6). His RP is nearly 2400, so an IM norm is possible.

Humphrey is on 3, and BJ on 2.

That info has not been updated since yesterday. Anyway, in what round did Rogers play So?

Sorry, my bad. Rogers drew with Ronald Dableo (another Pinoy) in round 6, and is yet to play Wesley So in round 7.

I have been playing Fillipino players quite a lot on the internet. They are really strong tactically! Better be careful with them:hmm:

The Pinoy nightmare continues: Rogers lost to Wesley So in round 7, and drew with a Bangla FM in round 8.

Chris Wallis drew with a 2300 WGM in round 7, and lost to an IM in round 8.

That Wesley must be on for a GM norm.

interesting pairing in round 9 on board 26

C.Wallis-J.Humphrey

Rogers is playing a fellow GM, both on 4 points..

Brian is on 3 points and plays 2198 player in round 9...

Yes Wynn Zaw Htun is overrated, but probably only about 100 points. He finished equal 1st (fifth on tie break) and beat GM Nguyen Ang Dung in the last round who was the equal leader going into the round. Drawing with Wynn Zaw Htun is still a very good result for Humphrey.

Oh absolutely, and I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. But I think his final round draw with Rogers is more impressive (without having seen the games). 6.5/11 was a tremendous result.

In spite of the Pinoys umpteen grand masters the Aussie team got more points than them in the Olympaid - Ian could confirm if they are still wearing those signs around their neck "will suck sav for Australia"

What are you talking about Lebo? Just look at the quality of opposition these skippies played.

Anyway, you're just as noisy as this Lebo sheila I was sitting next to at the train station this morning. She was all covered in a veil and all that. But my God! Could she make some noise or what? I thought it was only them Asians that made so much noise when speaking in their own lingo. This woman just started wailing into her mobile phone! Oh my God! And you know, this Arabic isn't exactly the most mellifluous sounding. Damn near wake up the dead, she did.

I have heard Arabic described as the most poetic language. You must listen to the famous Faruz(?) so sweet, leave Imelda Pappin and Nora Anor for dead. She refused to sing for 15 years whilst civil war was on. And to keep on topic, Lebanon is keenly promotely chess (or was) and Faruz promises to learn the game in future.
