Since I had such a great response to my previous post about Elena competing overseas, I thought I would give it another go :P Sedina in round eleven. If anyone cares ;)

I am told that the article written about Elena Sedina for "Inside Sport" is likely to appear in about August. I assume that she will appear fully clothed unlike many others in that magazine

Elena just missed out on qualifying for the women's world championship.

The European Championship yielded 18 passes to the Women's World Championship. Some of the top scorers had already qualified in other events, so that the first nineteen players in this event that is everyone with eight points or more, secured a place, with three additional passes left over. That meant that all players with 7 points, except those who were pre-qualified, had to play a tiebreak for these three places. They went to IM Almira Skripchenko and WGMs Anna Ushenina and Natasa Bojkovic.

Elena ended up with 7.5, but missed out on tie break games.

Might have been good to try some of this sort of publicity - just good old interest-generating publicity - in the lead up, during & immediately after Mt Buller.

You might get more nibbles on this thread if Elena had really been introduced to and celebrated by the Australian chess public.

They will crucify us for polluting the thread (on your head) - I found out today my Lebo chess mates are also Hachem's(?) poker mates, for years they played for 10c a game in his Campsie garage. He has four children and is from a large poor family and they reakon he will help them all out.

Your mates would put it on a cockfight or build an grotto-altar out in the backyard!

stay out of my thread with your crap both of you. This is meant to be a thread about the australian open winner and articles related to that.

You two already have a thread going with your crap. Stay to that thread.

Yes, saw it last week. Quite a good article, but I think they were playing on the geeky angle a little to much.
