This one is very mysterious. I have a file contaimng 80+ games from Vic Junior.
I successfully sentr this to Shaun today.

However when I tried to send a file containing 11 games from this tournament
to Sandler he could only read the first three games. Some of the games I sent had been annotated. Can anyone help.

Ive had a smiliar problem. Can i ask, are you running chessbase with Fritz 8? Ive found when annotated game lists are transfered from Fritz back to chessbase sometimes the list is unreadable. Thats why i always create a secondary folder for Fritz games, and then I transfer them from this folder back into my main database after the analysis is complete..

Hope you can fix it...one of those games is James'

I solved the problem by sending the judge of the best game prize several Emails.
Each contained two or three games. I am fairly certain that the problem game
was the game from James as it contains annotations. I suspect that the problem is the special characters that Chessbase programs use in annotations even when saving PGN files. I sent Shaun a large file that is readable but I did not use the annotations by James. All in all I spent a couple of hours performing a task that shouls have raken seconds.

Sorry....
Kerry informed me that annotations were compulsary
I didn't mean to cause so much trouble

It is much better if the games are annotated. The problems can be worked around.

david,

perhaps you could email steve lopez at the chessbase site with your query.

it might be covered in one of his archives in either

electronic t notes

or

(which is now effectively)

chessbase workshop.

the query might even rate a mention in a forthcoming update at the site especially if still relevant to more recent versions of the program concerned.

that notwithstanding i'm almost sure you'd get a reply.

This thread sounds interesting. Where do we see these games?
