Does anyone know what has happened to www.fide.com? It seems to have been off air for several days.

Whenever there is a problem at FIDE, why do people immediately presume financial mismanagement? :hmm:

No wait, don't answer that.

how long does it need to be down for before we are able to have posts about it moved to the "disturbingly preposterous websites" thread? :owned:

perhaps it needs to start a premium membership system

ARThe site comes up and you get the top part of the banner and headings but thats about it.

The page gets the following error showing:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_DBC failed

/default.asp, line 56You cannot navigate to any sub page either.

It looks like those Canucks have noticed the same problem. The Ottawa CC message boards have cited the same. Thanks to UCJ for posting that link. Also, it seems that there was child abuse situation there. Very interesting reading indeed. Even GM Kevin Spragget is involved in the discussions. Wow!

On my iMac (OS 9.2) I can open the website on IE 5.1, Mozilla, iCab and Opera but the drop down menus work only on IE and Mozilla. I think their failure on the other two is the fault of the browser. That is, the site seems to be fully operational on IE and Mozilla. I haven't tried to open it on my Windows laptop.
