Chemaster 8000, isnt a bad learning tool and playing engine, but its no match against the newer models. Chessmaster 9000 is out these days. I picked up 8000 for about 10 Euro a few years back too, and thought that it was a great investment. So many learning tools on board. As for its rating its actually not above 2300 ELO. I read on the pasket too, something like a USCF of 2750 (whatever that really is ((Maybee thats its blitz rating??)) but I have beaten CM 8000 on occasion, although against the new vesrions of Fritz etc, I have never taken a full point away.

I bought Chessmaster 9000 cheaply last year as it too has now been replaced by Chessmaster 10000 though it goes under another name (as 10000 doesn't sound so flash) that escapes me at the moment.

I believe it is Chessmaster 10th Edition.
