Do you want to play perfect chess? Do you want to run the complete 6-men tablebase on your mobile phone? Do you improve your endgames? You can now download two new Syzygy tablebase chess apps:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/syzygy-chess-tablebase-5-pieces/id1183121054?ls=1&mt=8

and

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/syzygy-chess-tablebase-6-pieces/id1165952263?mt=8

The two apps allow you to run Syzygy tablebase with the Stockfish engine. The engine will now play perfect endgames.

Couldn't you save some space by removed the less useful tablebases? The first on the graphic above if K+3B v K. Not a endgame I can remember ever needing. :)

I could. But the 5-men tablebase collection is only 1GB, so it doesn't make sense to leave anything out. It's possible to distribute everything in an iOS app.

The complete 6-men is 150GB, thus I will only publish selected endgames such as the popular rook vs pawn.

Sure I assume there is a six-man K+4N v K tablebase which is even less likely to be used than K+3B v K.

I guess that if you already have Stockfish running you really only need the tricky endgames where the engine might make a drawing move because the win is beyond the calculation horizon. Things like the K+R+P v K+R+P like you say and similar ones with minors. Do you have a list of all the tablebases that you include or is that proprietary?

I have included all the 3/4/5-men in the app.

For the 6-men, I will follow Chessbase (https://shop.chessbase.com/en/products/endspiel_turbo_4). So far, I only have the rook endgames but I will roll out the rest gradually. Stockfish users shouldn't need to order a DVD from Chessbase, simply download my apps and they're good.
