Good pictures. Anyone have any idea what happened in the Gao- Zhang game. Any updates to what happened yesterday in round 2 games. Vega files seem to be stuck in round one.

That game has not yet been played. Once played the results and PGN would be entered.

There are no live games this time. We'll endeavour to complete data entry and publish the PGN before the completion of the next round.
Vega has been updated until round2 for both Masters and Qualifiers. Round3 is still being played.

Hans, Daniel and Leo we're at the interschools final over the weekend so they have some catchup games.

Good pictures.
Yes they are. But most of us on ChessChat have no idea who most of them are.

Much obliged, thanks. I haven't seen a lot of those Kiwi players in ~20 years or more.

Typical Solo style! position after 29 moves looks very simple and totally equal...then he outplays his opponent trhough strong endgame play x percistence

The KRP vs KRP at the end is actually a tablebase draw from move 70 to move 74, but it is easy to go wrong. By move 75 white has made it much harder and needs to find 75.Rb8 to retain a drawn position. Earlier 39.Kh2 instead of Kf2 seems to be a key mistake. All credit to the winner for squeezing something out of nothing like that.

Much obliged, thanks. I haven't seen a lot of those Kiwi players in ~20 years or more.

Talking about temporal terms, I take this opportunity to wish my dear friend Dr Jonathan David Sarfati, happy birthday and many happy, healthy and prosperous returns! May God always be with you and your lovely family! :) Back to chess now! :)

Are the games live today?

There are no live games. We just frantically create the PGN from scoresheets once the games are over...
