If you are wondering about the Fishers Ghost I've asked Steve to chase up the organiser about it.

No Vic Interclub and no Box Hill tournaments yet? Also none of the Vic Championships tournaments, nothing from MCC...

Looks like you'll be getting a flood of just-before-the-deadline tourneys, Bill. :)

So who is responsible for the Western Zone.

Bill

My guess it is Peter Caissia, but I am not sure he reads here. Probably Milic chases him up?

And then on top of that is the E v W Final; and maybe Gazza has those results since he handed out the pennants at the AGM.

Yep i emailed the guy who created SP and he said something has to be actioned over this end.

I spoke to Norm on the train coming home from Gosford about it. He said that the person i had to talk to was up the North coast or something at that time.

That makes no sense to me as I am unaware of any connection between anyone on the North Coast and the ACF paying the SP fee.
I suggest you discuss this with Norm and I in person at the AGM.

Victorians should note the MCC Melbourne Cup Weekender is not included.
The SP files received by the Vic ratings officer were incomplete with only results up to the 2nd round and the draw for the 3rd round included. Although the Vic ratings officer had queried this so far I have not received it.

Poor form by the MCC.

The Canterbury Open will be included. As will most likely the Fishers Ghost which I will start entering into SP when I get home.
I have asked that the St. George V Nth Sydney Big Boards match being played tonight will hopefully be sent to me ASAP after it completes so it should also be included.
The Hetherington Memorial from the ACT will be included if the organisers get it to me this evening.

That should be about it.

Tomorrow (Wed 1st December), in theory. They may not be up on the website immediately; apparently the ACF webmaster is currently away (reference Bill's post earlier in this thread).

Perhaps I'll get my first rating in the next ACF rating calculation? Have played my last few games in the German system last week.

Sad times for me having to leave SF Wetzisreute. :(
We took the lead of our table this week with and are looking at promotion. :)
Barry you can try out your German skills with a bit of the report the lads wrote up about our last win and my leaving Germany...

''Erfolgreichste Spieler für Wetzisreute mit 3 Siegen aus 3 Spielen sind bisher James Bonning und Wilhelm Kreh. Für James Bonning war dies sein letztes Spiel, da er wieder in seine australische Heimat zurückkehrt. Mit diesem Sieg übernimmt Wetzisreute die alleinige Tabellenführung in der Kreislliga Süd.'' from www.sf-wetzisreute.de

Sounds like Wetzisreute will be missing you too. This is what I can glean...

Yourself and Wilhelm are the most successful players at the club with three from three however it was your last game as you are returning to Australia. With the win your club is now outright first in the southern Krieslliga.

Well I did need a little help from a dictionary. I have a german exchange student friend and when he gets together with his mates and starts talking I pickup practically zero.

The other problem is unlike with French and Spanish; in German my sketchy knowledge of Italian (which is my best language after English) is almost useless. :( (However it is more use with German than it is with Japanese).

Yes, all the above events i mentioned were included with the exception of the MCC Melbourne Cup Weekender.
I received the Big Boards match around 2.15am.
Unfortunately that was about 30mins after I called it a night.
I processed it this morning, but need to do a final check of the rating reports before dispatching them to the State Rating Officers. That will most likely happen late tonight.

On the other hand, English is probably more useful for guessing at German than it is for guessing at French or Spanish. :)

You're not wrong, Narelle. The biggest problem I find with spoken language (apart from the spead of delivery being in control of the talker, not the listener) is the brain seems to process phrases as single linguistic units. So the word boundaries are not apparent until you have enough vocab to recognise a good percentage of what is being said. Written labguage can be processed at the readers leisure and word boundaries are generally apparent.

Yes, that's exactly it. :)

Also, even when you know a certain word as it's written down, its pronunciation isn't always as you expect, so that makes it even harder to pick words out.

this ratings period i have had:
- a pretty solid NSW U1600 tourney
- An average Gosford open (i lost to a couple of unrateds)
- Had a reasonable November weekender (which included a win over Angela Song and a draw over another 1700 player.(1695 actually).
- had a win over another 1700 player in Fisher's Ghost.

This is good for me considering my rating is currently 1310

Sounds pretty good. Have you tried it out on my calculator?

You probably have numbers on me. I will probably only manage 14 rated games with no games (let alone wins) against players rated 400 points above me. However, I did have a pretty solid performance against most player within 100 points either side of my rating.
