This is part of a nationwide Chess for Girls Week, an initiative of the New Zealand Chess Federation, to encourage girls to try chess in an all-girl environment.

Date: 25 June 2014
Time: 9:10am - 2:30pm
Format: three separate 6-round tournaments in age groups: over 12, under 12 and under 10.
Time control: 20 minutes for the game with an increment of 3 seconds per move from move one.
Venue: Rangeview Intermediate School, Keru Place, Te Atatu South, Auckland Google Map Link (https://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=10339017290112217550)
Organiser: Waitakere Chess Club.

Fee: $15pp.
Entries close 20 June 2014.
No late entries accepted.

Auckland age group titles will be awarded for under 18, under 16, under 14, under 12, under 10 and under 8, where the ages are as at 1st January 2014.
At least three players required in each age group for title to be awarded.
All players will receive participation certificates.
Trophies and medals will be posted to schools for presentation at school assembly.


Pl arrive on time as 1st round will start at 9:20am sharp.
Other round times are guidelines only + may be brought forward if rounds finish early.
The event is expected to end at 2:30pm.
As with all schools in NZ, no smoking is allowed in the school buildings + on grounds.
Rangeview Intermediate will have a tuck shop with food and drinks available for purchase.

There's currently 43, 42 + 33 players in each tournament respectively. Hope there a few NZ Junior Champs entry forms distributed tomorrow to encourage few of these girls to join in.
