Very strong field. I predict Garbett will emerge victorious.Agree, but Garbett wont have everything go his way. Good to see a friend from the past Bernard Carpinter playing.

Two rounds played and the top three seeded players: Paul Garbett, Bob Smith and Mike Steadman are in the lead with maximum points. A further four players are on 1.5 points: Peter Stuart, Paul Spiller, Gordon Morrell and Hilton Bennett. Round 3 has the all-important clash between Smith and Garbett while Steadman takes on Morrell.

The games on the top four boards all ended in draws so no change at the top. There are 7 players half a point behind Garbett, Smith and Steadman. Steadman plays Smith and Garbett plays Bennett in round 4.

To kill boredom, I've been making the PGN for each round. Only 10 boards so not too onerous a task. Enjoy!
Usual disclaimer that I'm not good at deciphering scoresheets so please don't flame me over accuracy.

All available on the event's Vega webpages.
http://www.newzealandchess.co.nz/Vega2014/wwwNZSeniors/index.html

Vega webpages get updated as soon as possible after the completion of the last game of the round.
All in a format that should be compatible with most online devices.
You get to see next round pairings etc. before I can even walk over to update the noticeboard at the venue!!

Mike Steadman won against Bob Smith as did Paul Garbett against Hilton Bennett and these two lead the tournament with 3.5 points. Gordon Morrell and Richard Taylor are in third equal place on 3 points followed by Smith, Peter Stuart and Lindsay Cornford on 2.5. All eyes on Steadman vs Garbett in round 5.

The outright leader after 5 rounds is Mike Steadman with 4.5 points, after he won against Paul Garbett. Gordon Morrell is alone in second place with 4 points after his win over Richard Taylor. On 3.5 points are Garbett, Bob Smith and Lindsay Cornford. Steadman plays Cornford and Garbett plays Morrell in round 6.

Steadman took a step closer to his first NZ Seniors Championship with a win over Cornford. He has a one point lead over Garbett and Smith with one round to play. Garbett beat Morrell and Smith beat Paul Spiller to move to 4.5 points. Steadman needs only to draw with Bob Gibbons to win the tournament.

I've attached Steadman vs Garbett PGN file but I wasn't able to find where to upload the file so it could be seen in the PGN viewer. Help appreciated.

I think you just put the PGN text between tags.
