Hi Auzzie friends from Canada:

I'm interested in installing the pgn viewer on a Canadian site.

ChessTalk (http://www.chesstalk.info/forum/forum.php)

I'm a moderator (for the English side) and Larry Bevand is the Admin. Neither of us is particularly technically brilliant with this stuff, but yes I can read HTML at least. lol. Some guidance would be appreciated.

Much thanks,

The pgn viewer used here was developed by the board owner and so he would have to help you out in both getting the software and how to install it. I'll send him a PM so that he can reply in this thread or to you directly.

Thank you. I'm just looking to see if the application allows for annotations and also how many people post games using this feature. It's been drawn to my attention that another Auzzie Discussion Board (that I can't name, it seems) has a different application that they use.

I integrated Lutz's PGN viewer, LT-PGN-VIEWER into vBulletin. It is quite simple to do if you know HTML and JavaScript.

You would use custom BBCODE options/features of your forum to implement it. In this case I have edited vBulletin code due to the complexity of PGN parsing. The FEN tags are directly added using BBCODE options in vBulletin. I have also written a lot of code myself for custom features such as uploading of an entire PGN file and PGN recording.

I don't know if it will be of any use - but back in 2007 I recall using a free javascript based pgn viewer for a website that could be accessed simply through html code.

It may have been similar (or even the the precursor) of one that can be found here:

http://www.lutanho.net/ (you might need to scroll down through his other applications to find LT_PGN_Viewer).

A possible stopgap solution might be to enable html code in a single section of the forum (eg a games section).
