105 players at the 36th Trusts Open. A: 36, B: 24: C: 26 and Junior: 19.
I don't know the age spread but at spotted at least 2 listed in the U8 group in the juniors and there were definitely seniors around.

1st round started late (around 10am or shortly thereafter). So last game ended after 2pm.

There was a short break during which some trophies + prizes were handed out. This gave time for the draw to be done for A Grade tournament as well as give the players of the last 3 games that finished a chance for a very very short lunch break. Round 2 started late.
Results, pairings, crosstables et are all available from the tournament website (http://www.waitakerechess.org.nz/36th-trusts-open/)

Photos from Day 1 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/simonlyall/sets/72157633850229561) They cover opening ceremony (speeches, and 1st move on board 1 by tournament sponsor), pics of players at start of round 1, prizegiving after round 1 ended and pics of players at start of round 2.

Time to post some photos from Round 2.
It's a beautiful day outside so the photos are overexposed.

This a the view when entering the Playing Area.

They have floorspace that is as large as the tournament room. Looks rather empty, hopefully they would have lots of customers.

We're checking out various ways to display games that are broadcast live.

In the tournament room itself we're using a Raspberry Pi credit card sized computer.

In the Analysis Room, we use an old laptop. (top left on the table)
Accompanying parents always take any available space with electrical outlets for their own fancy netbooks!

Biggest drawback of using this excellent venue is it's size.
The large indoor space makes it ideal to serve as a venue for other groups sports events too.

Today we have the Philippine community sports event. All the loudspeakers (black things hung from the roof) are constantly announcing things and the sound irritates some players.
At least they are not as loud as the basketball match that happened last night, with 80s rock music blasting till the chess pieces vibrated.
