Thanks for the encouragement!, but I think my name handle on here is rather appropriate today. Managed to lose when q vs r+n up, but drew when in a lost position with a junior who probably overawed with my inflated rating. It's all just fun now though.

Biggest difference I now notice is not being able to move the pieces when analysing as can do in correspondence chess, that plus not having 5 days per move!

Set of photos (http://j.mp/13s6oB1) taken during NZ Rapid championship. 56 players participated in the NZ Rapid Championship. There were a few fresh faces (and minds). They were people who didn't play at the Championship or Major Open tournaments.

Set of photos (http://j.mp/13s7IUq) taken during NZ Blitz Champs. Note: we left not long after the final round (where top 2 of each group were playing each other) had started their round robbin. 32 ppl played in the NZ Blitz Championship. I think the only fresh face is Russell Dive. The rest have played in the Rapid and/or Champs/Major Open

3 ppl tied in 1st equal with 5 points. They were Ben Hague, Noel Pinic and Athula Russell.
Next (on 4th place) was Ewen Green with 3.5 points.

Ker and Dive aren't the greatest of blitz players in NZ. I reckon the top would be Pinci,Hart,Hague,Steadman (sometimes),Hans Gao, myself, Barlow then Ker maybe. Antonio Krstev is pretty good. Mario krstev is good 2, when he plays.

And with all due respect to Gino, I find it hard to believe that he's stronger in blitz than Ker and Dive. I know Ker has won the NZ Blitz champs, although I'm not sure about Dive. I also find it hard to believe that Barlow and Hart are stronger at blitz than Ker and Dive. I might credit some of the younger players, but not players of the same generation with far inferior records, and whom I've played myself and doubt that their blitz skill has that far advanced.
