We are having a garden chess set and some regular sets available -we will probably run a simul or 2 over the few days. I am not sure if I can get volunteers to 'man' the area for Friday, but definitely Sat and Sun you will find us there (9 to 5 probably or so).

The parachute organisers are promoting a 'village green' theme, so the large chess set would be appropriate, and we can promote the Hamilton chess club and NZ chess through it.

The festival runs Jan 28-31 at Mystery Creek, and attracts 12,000 camping on site with a total of 25,000 visitors over the 4 days. For those who don't know Parachute is a christian music festival that's been held annually in Hamilton for the last few years. Terrific, Scott. I have been to the Parachute Music Festival in the past (when it was at Otaki near Wellington). Open air large chess there is a great idea! I am also a big fan of NZ's predominant Christian music group, the Parachute Band. A pity I am now in Sydney or I would come...Good luck with promoting your club.

We will be there 9 to 5 Saturday and Sunday only. Try out the large garden set (photos on my FB profile, under drive by chess) or test your chess skill against a Hamilton Chess Club member and win prizes (if you win!), for a gold coin donation!

Some great bands will be there - including "elemeno p". I want to try the dodgems :)

Chess was VERY popular at parachute. Some pics of the 2 days. lots of people there, not many from Hamilton - but from everywhere else. Still, a lot of fun. And more pics on the Hamilton chess blog entry (http://hamiltonchess.weebly.com/1/post/2011/01/parachute-music-festival-jan28-31-2011-and-chess.html).
