Hi,

I operate a chess club website and want to embed a pgn viewer.

I have tried many but always Google Sites rejects the code generated by various viewers.

There are many Igoogle gadgets for playing chess but not for hosting a pgn set.

Any ideas? Options that I've missed?

I would also like to have live games of a tournament we are hosting.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I run the Harbord Diggers website (www.harborddiggerschessclub.com), also via Google Sites, and ran into the same problem. I have games linked from a blog (blogger.com), which does support it. Have a look if you like, its not great to do it that way, but the games are up anyway. The site I use to generate the javascript is: http://gameknot.com/pg/chess-tools.htm. Nice and easy.

That would be because I gave a totally wrong URL. The actual link is:
http://www.harborddiggerschessclub.org.au/

Sorry for that.

I found ChessFlash which creates a flash move of the game, but unfortunately will do only one game.

http://chessflash.com/chessflash.html

Implemented by Battersea Chess Club www.batterseachessclub.org.uk/games/tony-s-winning-game-from-british-seniors

I want one that will offer multiple games on a single interface.

Perhaps linking to an outsite blog is the way to go until Google accepts Java code.

Google sites does not allow java/javascript and similar that you need to display chess games.

What you can do is to use the "include gadget (iframe)" google gadget and enter the URL produced by the pgn4web board generator (http://pgn4web-board-generator.casaschi.net) in the src= portion of the iframe.

Here you find a quick example, keep in mind that chessboard colors, size, position and much more are fully customizable.

Louisiana chess wrote to me about their system. One of their clever boffins turned one of the on-line systems into a gadget that can be added to a google site.

I have put the 2010 Australian Championship games on our site @ www.northsydneychess.org/australian-championships-results/games

How to put it on a site:

1. Upload your pgn file to the your Google Site (to a separate File Cabinet page or as an attachment).

2. Add the gadget to your page. The Google Gadget link is
http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/102990997529999066417/gpgn.xml

3. Configure the gadget properties, indicating the http path to your PGN file.

ah. David Cordover's new Microbase can be used by using his HTML embed code- just don't put the "auto-fit" option on. IE. manually enter a width.

This is excruciating.

Does anyone have a simple how-to for this?

I've got Microbase running well but reached the free bases limit.

Any help much appreciated!!

Paul
