The bishop endgame is a great thing to know

when your in that tourny and time is low & all you got is two bishops you will be gald to know how to do it.

i really cant tell you how to do it but i will give you a situation

here is the position
White Black
Bb2 Kc5
Bg2
Ke2
white to move first is whites, then blacks move
Ke2-e3, Kc5-c4
Bb2-d4, Kc4-b4
Bg2-d5, Kb4-b5
Ke3-d3, Kb5-b4
Bd5-c4, Kb4-a5
Bd4-c5, Ka5-a4
how the key here is to decide on which site you want to checkmate him on
once you have decided you will need to move your king along side the bishop towards the checkmating corner
Kd3-c3, Ka4-a5
now this is the key part
dont get into a rush you are going to need to move a bishop back
not just of your pickings i certain one
right now my goal is to move my black bishop to b6 so guess which one i am moveing back (black bishop )
Bc5-d4, Ka5-a4
Bd4-b6**, Ka4-a3
got to keep running him to the corner
Bc4-b5, Ka3-a2
notice the opportunity for black to get away at b1
so need to stop that
Kc3-c2, here it doesnt matter where black moves so i say Ka2-a3
Bb6-c5+, Ka3-a2
Bb5-c4+, Ka2-a1
Bc5-d4++ we wa we you did it

keep practicing you will get it soon enough
next step is bishop knight
but i cant help you on that cause i cant do it! lol
it is possible though

Always wanted to know how to do it :)
However, I'd be lucky to have two bishops left, since I like keeping knights instead for the endgame.

KBBvsK and KNBvsK is easy enough, just takes learning. It is just like when you first learn how to hold a draw in certain K vs KP positions, or how to mate with KQ vs K and KR vs K ...

I don't see the comparison between chess and maths though ... ;)

When you can calculate the volume of eliptoids, then their mass after applying relativistic effects, you'll understand :)

They have lights you can clap your hands and they turn on ... and clap again they turn off ...

KNB v K is tricky.. there are positions which require more than 30 moves and one mistake, you're over 50.. I can usually do it

the most challenging endgames are rook pawns vs rook pawns

KBN v K isn't that hard really.

lolz finkin bak the years tis funnie how the first time i started to play REAL chess, i didn't noe how to mate wif KQ vs K..... :p and i was actually winnin against dat friend of mine..... and i hereby declare dat friend...... uhm not as good as me...... lolz.....

ne waz, i got chessmaster 8000, and dat tutor in it, josh give lectures on some principles abt endgames... like havin a good pawn structure, improvin on pawn structure etc....... so wut are the things u need to look for in endgames to give urself a better position??

There is a thing to remember when you are having King & 2 Bishops against a lone King:
After driving the King to the corner, keep your king in such a position that it gives a check if it was a knight. (L shape). There might be other positions. But this thumb rule really HELPS!! :)
