Congratulations to my friend Tristan Boyd for winning the WA Championships with 8/9, a point clear of second, and more importantly gaining 18 rating points which means that FIDE lists his new rating as of tomorrow as 2308, which means that he is eligible to apply to be a FIDE master.

Tristan would be even stronger I feel if he had the chance to play in the eastern states more, and take home rating points!!

Take care and God Bless, Malcolm

Aleks Wohl's rating has continued to rocket upwards. From a low on the January list of 2342 his rating has gone up by 115 points. Great return to top form.

There have been some comments on other forums and sites that the Australian FIDE ratings links haven't been updated as promptly as they should. It's a fair cop, I suppose, as although almost all info can be found on http://ratings.fide.com/, the advanced search has limitations. For example, you can't sort and rank by active players to produce a proper top player list by country - FIDE only does this for the top 100 for each country. Also, the search results are not put in a single page or file.

For those reasons I have updated my site (http://users.tpg.com.au/canfell/main.html) to be an archive of the full Australian lists. As far this thread is concerned the November 2009 links are: all players (http://users.tpg.com.au/canfell/Archives2009/Nov2009All) and active players (http://users.tpg.com.au/canfell/Archives2009/Nov2009Active).
