Pretty much =) I'm not a theory person. Hence why I play such strange lines against centre counter, french, caro, etc.

Michael and Alana, would you please write your move number prior to each move.

It would also be a bonus if you would copy and paste the previous moves as well, such as this 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nge7 4. O-O a6 5. Bc4

Thank you.

EDIT: Why did the PGN die?
The pgn is good. Often after an edit, the pgn viewer does not work for the author. Using the refresh button on the browser makes it all good again!

Mike, rather thean explaining - it often turns out bad, may I suggest that you use the QUOTE button on a pgn post (say Alana's) and look at the coding. If you prefer, it is {pgn} and {/pgn} either side of the moves where the curly brackets are changed to angular ones.

Hahah ok this is the last move I can make for like a week - going to ERGAS. What happens if I cant move in that time?

That is a reasonable reason for not moving in a week so I am sure you would not be forfeited for it, given that you have stated it in advance.

what happens if there is a draw on this ladder?

Draws are covered here (http://www.chesschat.org/showthread.php?p=251260#post251260).

The relevent text is

LADDER MOVEMENT
A winning challenge results in a transposition of the player's positions on the ladder
EG In a game between Players 3 and 4 on a ladder, Player 3 moves to Position 4 and and Player 4 moves to Position 3.

A losing challenge results in both
a) the winner remaining in the same position, and
b) the loser dropping one place
EG in a game between Player 3 and Player 4 on a ladder, Player 3 remains in Position 3 and Player 4 drops to Position 5

Player 5 (who may or may not have a game in progress) will be elevated to the location of Position 4.

A drawn game results in the same movement as if the challenge had been successful. The players' positions on the ladder will transpose.

Meh I don't mind either way.

Didn't realise there was a "time-out" rule until just then - been having massive problems with my internet lately/lack having time to play.

So yeah, move me to the bottom, or delete me. Either or.

Alana FWIW, as a colleague on the board I find your attitude juvenile and wanting in manners that doesn't become anything approaching a young lady making her way in life.

As admin of this ladder I'm inclined to accept that the rules were made after many people had joined and weren't particularly well advertised, so simply the normal rules of loss apply and no more.
