Old ratings used for the next ratings

How exactly are the rating calulated

I am wondering when you play in a club tournament:

Eg. It starts in April and the March ratings are used and it finishes in June so the ratings can not be added until the Sept ratings.

It is said the old ratings are used- is this calulated off everyones old rating just for that tournament and then it is simpily added to the result of your other calulations on your new rating?

As has always been the practice the ratings used are the ratings at the time the event is submitted for rating. As such in your example the event is rated as part of the September ratings and therefore the June ratings are used for the calculations.
