    When I grow up I want to be a...

    A thread for what you guys want to do when you are older.

    Personally I haven't decided but I have wanted to be a doctor so I could help people or my dad wants me to be a lawyer so I can...help people?
    And still, no one has satisfactorily proven, that it isn't opposite day.

    Do lots of maths and science this is a very achievable goal if you have the commitment to work hard. There are lots of working astrophysicists out there. Coincidentally I had lunch with one today.

    If you put an astrophysicists into a box, can you tell if they are unemployed without looking?

    Shouldn't that be particle physicists? Mostly they are too busy looking for Higgs bosons to care.

    what to do

    remember there will be completely new jobs in a few years time.

    The real money is going to be made by

    - propellor heads in investment banks. You need economics, statistics and mathematics.

    - gene splicing and genetics in general.

    - bodgie mining entrepreneurs - you need false passports and a good sense of when to cut and run.

    - AFL footballers. League and union players should consider switching codes.
