    Chess Chat Tournament #8

With the the latest freestyle tournament coming to a close (outright winner decided, one game remaining), time to start collecting entries and discussing rules I guess for next non freestyle tournament.

    Who wants in?

From the experience of the last couple of tournaments with the 30 days plus 3 moves per day time control, I think the initial number of days could be reduced to 14.

Will start the tournament once we get a decent number of players.

    Cool

30 days plus 3 moves per day time control <- explain in twenty words or less

and what if you cant make your moves on one day..does that void the 3 moves a day rule or cna you catch up later

    Hi Kaitlan

The last couple of tournaments have had a time control of 30 days plus 3 days per move. You also had to make at least one move per week.

So if you made 3 moves really quickly you would have 39 days (30 + 3 + 3 +3) and then if your fourth move took 5 days you would be down to 34 days.

If your days run out, or you dont make at least one move in one week (seven days) then you lose on time.

Does that make sense ? Sorry to go over the twenty word limit.

    cheers
    Garrett.

Hmm, 4 players total and 2 of those players I have real concerns about their ability to not time out.

Is anyone else interested? Should I try and run another freestyle tournament instead?

I won't be up for another freestyle tournament for at least six months as I want to spend more time annotating my old games. That said, others may be; the current one has been quite well supported.
