    state championship info

    For the round 1 results and round 2 draw of the 2004 WA State Championship - http://www.geocities.com/wachess/

    Brief details: 44 players, 9 round swiss, $65 entry fee (all), Prize fund $3,750, 1 game per week: Sundays 1pm (!), 90mins+ 1 min per move, venue: excellent!

    Upsets for round 1: 5th seed Adam Haasse (2098) losing to Marc Saxon (1617), David Ellis (2034) losing to Natalie Maris (1592).

    The final round is this Sunday. Pairings, current standings and crosstable are on the website.

    Briefly, there is a 3 way tie for 1st: Haydn Barber (2135), Tristan Boyd (2231) and in somewhat of a surprise Gordon Dunlop (1768) are all on 6.5/8. Jay Lakner (2003) and Tim Hare (2059) are half a point behind on 6.

    The last round top board pairings are Haydn v Gordon and Tristan v Jay.

    I've just sent an email to the WA ratings officer asking him to get the SP files for this event from the arbiter ASAP after it finishes and send them to me for inclusion in the Sept ratings.
