    Quirky chess tips

This thread is for little tips and tricks you pick up along the way.
It dosen't matter how patzerish they are just as long as they are sensible.
I'll post up one in a sec.
And still, no one has satisfactorily proven, that it isn't opposite day.

Uh... the 4-move checkmate always works well when you're a little kid?

Before you play a new opening in a tournament, practice it online first!

(well, I know this is common sense, but I had to learn my lesson the hard way!)

In this position (or with a bishops pawn I'll show why later) White can't actually win because every time he is actually forced behind his pawn it's stalemate.
