I've seen reviews from all over the political spectrum competing to get stuck into Hillary's book.

The trouble with reviews from people working in the media is that Hillary is quite critical of the media. In fact there is a pretty good argument to be made that the media mishandled the election in several significant ways. So the media reviews are more than a little biased, especially when the try to dismiss the book as unnecessary. It just sounds a little to much like try to silence an inconvenient voice which would force them to ask difficult questions.

Regarding Sam Kriss's prior views of Clinton he has said this...

Hillary Clinton is, as her supporters like to put it, imperfect – a mass murderer, a wrecker of nations and peoples, the political expression of biophagous finance, a ruthless cynic who will fling millions into whatever ravine presents itself to get what she wants, which is power.

So probably not close to a neutral observer.

Looks like McCain is a No on Graham-Cassidy (due to not following normal order) and so perhaps it is dead? Rand Paul is pretty negative and so if Collins and Murkowski stay negative then the ACA is staying around for the short term.

An interesting parliamentary briefing here. How Xi emerges from the NPC next month will give some indication of his chances of a third term or selecting his successor.

...I.e. it still has many problems. But China's improvements are due to moving in an economically more free market orientation, what you reasonably call "economic liberalisation".
Partly, but the central government allows forward planning, via Five Year Plans, and implementation of major economic, social, infrastructure and environment projects and their completion over long time horizons. The latest is the One Belt One Road project, involving trillions of investment dollars.

Your article says, "It is important to remember that the cost of production (labor included) is much lower in China." ...
Which increases US GDP vis-a-vis China

...at least that China overtaking the USA is over a decade in the future, not next year:
There are lots of varying analyses. Next year would be surprising, but it will be soon.
