This type of smothered mates, known for 100s of years still occur in modern play as in your example vs Chris.
The late Narelle Kerner also used this trick to mate young Innes-Brown (*) in 6 moves

    Kellner, Narelle
    Innes Brown, Cathy

    Event: AUS-ch (Women)
    Cooma 1973
    Caro-Kann, Steinitz variation (B17)
    Score: 1-0

(*) Cathy recovered well to win the Australian girls championship in the next two consecutive years!
In 1974 outright and in 1975 = 1st with Cathy Depasquale and Karen Hancock

No wonder, Chris was so satisfied when he took revansh on Bill in one of the Hjorth Memorials ((not sure what year it was)

Even at 3mins+2secs I cannot understand how someone rated ~1950 and who exclusively plays the Alekhine against 1.e4 doesn't know about this trap
