    Tal Memorial

    Tal Memorial started in Moscow yesterday. Ivanchuk,bloody Kramnik and Morozevich are in the lead on 1/1.

    Moro lost to Kamsky as well so his "#1 live rating" status lasted just a few days.

    I think there is potential in the "live rating" concept (after all some other sports compute their world #1s on a weekly basis so why does chess only do so every 3 months?) but I would prefer one that just updated after each tournament was finished.

    At the moment Ivanchuk is leading with 17/25, followed by Kramnik with 16.5. Everybody else has not many chances.

    Apparently there was a "scandal" during this tournament. Moro did not shake Ivanchuk's hand before the second blitz game. Ivanchuk looked slightly puzzled.

    People seem to think it is due to their game in the Tal memorial where in a severe time trouble for both players, Ivanchuk did what some naughty blitz players do - kept dropping the pieces and not did adjust them in his own time.
