    Instructive SCB ending position

    FEN Viewer

Knight - Bonham, SBCC Champs 1999

This game was played in the first round between two of the top seeds. White has just played 34.h4 (from h2). Black to move played ...Kf6 and after 35.Bd1 Kg6 36.Bb3 Bc6 37.Bd1 Bd7 38.Bb3 Bc6 39.Bd1, a draw was agreed.

That doesn't all sound very "instructive" at all, so ... what could have happened in this position instead?

Brilliant position, this is going to take some time to work through.

Am I on the right track 2. Bg4 I think that this will win the a6 pawn and after a few tempo moves, allow White to break through on the Kside. But as stated first up, I am still checking the lines, the only thing I have confirmed is that Black cannot play 2.....Bxg4
