    Random Puzzles

    I use the plural since I intend to use this thread for any future puzzles that strike my fancy.

    Boris-Yep, that is right. Black can play 2.Kd3, but then Ra3 wins.

    I found one of my favorite puzzle databases. Most are fairly easy when presented as puzzles, but nice (like the first one in this thread). So I don't know if it is worth people posting their solutions, since often it is just a case of seeing the first move. What do people think of me just posting the puzzle with the solution in white?

    Here is a puzzle from that database that is harder than the norm.

    That took me a while, and I'm not sure that I would have found it in a real game without the prompt that I have a win.

    BTW, why do we have to mis-spell colour the Yank way?

    Indeed. I thought it was worth mentioning anyway. Regarding what Black saw, his move before Qb3!! was Ne5-f3!!!, sacrificing a knight on e7.

    Why not. I'm not an avid reader but I do poke my head in from time to time and like a nice puzzle. You might even inspire me to revive my "white to play and mate in a ridiculously long and contrived way" thread.
