    Count me out.

The conservatives that I know don't feel this way either. Of course much fun can be had with similar stereotypical left wing traits.

No doubt, these stereotypes do exist on both sides of the fence, but not largely in the circles in which we both move.

And who would trust a lefty journo to report honestly anyway.

We do know what Leftcrazies say even when they know we are listening, e.g. Bush = Hitler, Cheney should be shot ... and remember the recent attempted lynching of totally innocent Duke lacrosse players by a corrput prosecutor, and all the usual race-baiters and Uni faculty proclaimed their guilt — but who cares, they are only privileged white boys.
“The history of the 20th century is full of examples of countries that set out to redistribute wealth and ended up redistributing poverty.”
“There’s no point blaming the tragedies of socialism on the flaws or corruption of particular leaders. Any system which allows some people to exercise unbridled power over others is an open invitation to abuse, whether that system is called slavery or socialism or something else.”—Thomas Sowell

Or quoted out of context, knowing full well that his unthinking leftist thralls wouldn't bother to check, if they could.

Just read the lefty blogs, PBS, NY Times .... Or the rabidly anti-Christian and potty-mouthed bints that the Edwards campaign hired as bloggers then had to let go.

No this is silly, the whole premise is silly and very badly written. I'm the senior officer here and I've not had a funny line yet so I'm stopping it.

It's hard to think of any context that could possibly make any of the quoted comments any less than utterly mind-boggling...

OK, quoted out of context with some embellishment.

You need to learn to use apostrophes properly.

    Pax,

Thanks for the link. I did a google seacrh an found nationalReview site. While I do not agree with quite a few opinions expressed their, all in all quite an intresting site.

    To the original article:
someone eavesdropped on private conversations and reported what some of the readers of the magazine said. So what?

that article is good for the chuckles.

They may be total red neck righties or whatever but remember there is a cultural war going on. The strong survive and the weak are consumed.

Guess What? New Republic has history of fabricating accounts of Conservatives

Pax gullibly reprinted this story which actually turns out to be from that mendacious leftist rag, New Republic. This is the rag that once hired one Stephen Glass as a star reporter, but had to fire him when it turned out that at least 27 of his 41 sensationalist stories were mostly fabricated, and raised serious doubt about the remaining 14. Compare the Hollywood version Shattered Glass, starring Hayden "Darth Vader" Christiansen where he played the lying cheat—some of the dialogue was verbatim from recordings. One of the most notorious was something very much like the "report" that has Pax salivating with glee: a hatchet job on the 1997 Conservative Political Action Conference. Glass has since apologized but New Republic has not apologized for running this story.

There is something sus about this story too. The article "The New Republic Up to Old Tricks" states:

More recently, The New Republic turned its attention to the National Review cruise. The cruise took place in November 2006, but the article wasn’t published until July 2007. National Review Managing Editor Jay Nordlinger posits, “‘Why the delay?’ I don't know — if the editors were uneasy, that suggests the presence of a conscience, somewhere. But, of course, they published anyway.” Nordlinger heard from many people who attended the cruise and while he does not pinpoint any specific lie, he calls it a “vicious, disgusting piece” and “so slanted and misleading, it amounts to a lie.” He concludes, “In a sense, the piece is a spiritual descendant of the Glass CPAC piece — just a smear job on a conservative event. How proud the New Republic people must be. ...

The New Republic has a propensity to believe the very worst lies about conservatives and the military. When one of their writers confirms their worldview, fact-checking is thrown on the window. Instead, The New Republic is in the business of conducting investigations after articles have been published and people have been dragged through the mud. Rather than practicing journalistic integrity, they slide by until they get caught. ”
“The history of the 20th century is full of examples of countries that set out to redistribute wealth and ended up redistributing poverty.”

Johann Hari is a regular columnist for "The Independent" in the UK. The article I quoted was attributed to The Independent. Yes, The Independent is left-leaning - that much is obvious from the article.

Does that, or the fact that it was also printed in TNR make Hari a liar? It's a bit hard to say when not a single person openly disputes the details of a conversation quoted by Hari.

"Johann Hari (born January 21, 1979) is a British journalist and writer. He is a columnist for The Independent and the Evening Standard. His work has also appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The New Republic, Le Monde and Ha'aretz."
