Yes, Congrats to Mark. My sources were telling me that he moved to Victoria recently...but looks like my sources have been wrong.

It is the Hosworth Foundation Tournament, there's no mistake there. I, on behalf of the SACA Committee sincerely thank them and Jocelyn Ho Retnaraja (Her children Ethan and Ethan-Malar played) for sponsoring the Tournament

If Jocelyn (or maybe Chesslife) sees this, prehaps they can talk about the Hosworth Foundation more.

Congrats to Mr Chapman as well, been a good six months for him

“A wise prince will seek means by which his subjects will always and in every possible condition of things have need of his government, and then they will always be faithful to him.” — Niccolo Machiavelli (1469–1527), Il Principe (The Prince)

A wise prince will also realise that this can be achieved more successfully by means other than rape, pillage, greed, lies, deceit or misinformation.

Congrats to Bill Jordan on his form thus far in the SA Championship. It would be great if he could win the event as, in chess terms, Bill is well "past his prime." What I'm wondering is, if he wins, is he the oldest South Australian to have won the title? I think he may be, although Kosh and Sulik must also have been pretty old when they won, but I'm often given "fake facts" these days so I checked with the Editor of a prominent Australian Chess Bulletin. He advised me that Bill could not claim this honour as Bill had only spent a year or two living in SA and had been regarded for most of his life as a Victorian player. Pity.

Not even close to being the oldest. The current champion is several years older than Bill.
South Australian chess players tend to not fall victim to senile dementia at an early age, unlike those from the convict settlements to the east.

The East will no doubt try and disprove that and show superiority at chess if Bill wins the Championship
(Someone from the East thought an SA Tournament be named after a couple in Bendigo).
