I'd be very interested to know more about who has brought this up and what it is about, since if there are any problems I haven't been aware of them.

Lengthy discussion at SACA Council special meeting last night.

Council decided to approve a preliminary budget of $11000 for the Evelyn Koshnitsky Memorial Chess Festival.

First class modern venue for the weekenders has been booked & paid for. [Fullarton Park Community Centre]

Preliminary draft entry forms for the 3 tournaments were also approved.

Minimum cash prize list for the Memorial Checkmate Open Weekender July 11 & 12 will be $4200

Minimum cash prize list for the Memorial Checkmate Challengers Weekender July 11 & 12 will be $1200.

Minimum cash prize list for ‘The Evelyn’ Chess Tournament for women & girls July 13 to 16 will be $1200.

Current budget is based on funds already pledged by SACA, SAJCL & private sponsors.

Optimists on the Council were of the view that substantial additional private sponsorship will become available as the memorial festival becomes more widely known.

If this happens SACA will prioritise improving the tournament prize lists, Grand Prix status, player facilities & titled player incentives.

SACA hopes that we can all honour Evelyn by making this as much a player social get together to remember a special person as a good tough chess competition.

No matter how much we end up with money wise I personally would like "The Evelyn" women and girls only tourney to be held at the Chess Centre as both Evelyn and Gary did so much to foster the continued existence of the SACA run Chess Centre. If sufficient funds are obtained perhaps we can provide wonderful refreshments etc for the girls/women who enter.
I think the optimists on SACA Council may be right based on emails etc. of the last 24 hours but time will tell.

The Fullarton Park Community Centre truly is a wonderful typical Adelaide setting just metres from where Evelyn and Gary lived for so many decades.

All looking good just waiting for ACF to get on board ?
