You made it, George! Nice when everybody in the State Championship wins at least one game each - means a close championship (apart from the fact that there's a runaway leader...)

Congratulations to FIDE Master Bill Jordan

Who can now celebrate his first SA Championship, along with his joint win in the Victor Harbour tournament
We'll see if he can get the coveted picket fence
The fight for minor places are still up for grabs, so come and watch if you're interested.

    Well done to Bill!

Although, I venture on a technicality that he isn't state champion until he survives the next week without anything happening to him.

Of course, all those in the tournament hope that doesn't happen as we were all very fond of him - or are, rather...

13-time Tasmanian Champion Otto Weber won his last tournament (not a state title) posthumously. A la Jochen Rindt in Formula One around the same time, he was so far ahead when he passed away that the rest were unable to catch him.

Here's a question: if a player is expelled from a tournament while holding an uncatchable lead, do they still win?
