    NSWCA Anzac Day Weekender

Here's a nice attacking game by Jamie Roberts. Our own alexmdc couldn't quite hold back the attack. Can you find a defense?

In round 6, Jason Chan went down to Lloyd Fell. The Old Man of Sydney chess can still blast anyone off the board.

In the last round, I won by virtue of a miracle. The position was completely lost but I had this funny feeling that I might just get something. When Jason played, 31. Rc4, there followed the glorious 31...Rcg8. After about 15 minutes think, my opponent resigned. He could probably try 32. R4c1. Jason recommended, 32...Bd6. According to Fritz, however, 32...Rg2 wins on the spot.

When he found out the result, Michael Walsh was gobsmacked. He had been stalking our board closely for sometime. It turns out that, according to Walsh anyway, I could have been mated quite easily by a method involving a rook sac on d5 then lifting the other rook to c4-h4.
