Ian is in town until May 4, but has given no undertaking about this event. What you remember is merely speculation based on his availability.

Well don't keep your light under a bushel, where should I be looking?

I tried the NSWCA website but it was as informative as a creation science newsletter.

Bolens won this event. Vanessa Reid came outright second after board 2, Fell v Nicholson, managed only a draw. Third prize of $80 was split four ways that included myself.

    See games in Games Section.

That's right, get those names right, especially for Illawarra people.

Nicholson can be a tricky customer and I've lost my share of games to him too. Also Lloyd's powers have waned in recent years. Still, great result for Vaness! Especially considering the field included Jason Chan, Harp (both of whom she drew with) and Peters.

You should see her game against alexmdc. Flawed but practical under the circumstances. Problem for alex is that he thinks too much.

Alex - can you post this game?

Yes please, Alex or Vaness, if either of you are reading this.

Sigh... here, so now both my losses from this tournament are on this board!

I spent way too much time working out what to do in the opening, although I ended up with a decent position once I regrouped my kingside. I had 6 minutes left (to 44) after move 20, and <1 minute when 29. Rxe6 came. Of course, the real blunder was 31.. Rde5. I lost on time after 36. g4 which just wins for white anyway.
