Possibly, another reason for praying out loud is to share with others what you are praying about. But, there are those who just do it to look good.

He also knows what you are going to ask for and that he will not grant it before you even ask.

I have so many religious fellow-travellers who damn Christians/Catholics to me for being hypocritical. Praying certainly does not help the prayer to improve

Well if they have lit a few candles at the altar and put money in the plate the churches should be up for fraud or false advertising.

I think that if this is all people go to church for, they would be better of searching opp shops for old dusty lanterns, and a nice shining cloth.

After getting all of Pope Benedict's luggage loaded into the limo (and
    >he doesn't travel light), the driver notices that the Pope is still
    >standing on the curb.
    >
    > "Excuse me, Your Holiness," says the driver, "Would you please take your
    >seat so we can leave?"
    >
    > "Well, to tell you the truth," says the Pope, "they never let me drive
    >at the Vatican, and I'd really like to drive today."
    >
    > "I'm sorry but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! And what if
    >something should happen?" protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to
    >work that morning.
    >
    > "There might be something extra in it for you," says the Pope.
    >
    > Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind
    >the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the
    >airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 105 mph. "
    >
    > Please slow down, Your Holiness!!!" pleads the worried driver, but the
    >Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.
    >
    > "Oh, dear God, I'm gonna lose my license," moans the driver.
    >
    > The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but
    >the cop takes one look at him, goes back to
    > his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.
    >
    > "I need to talk to the Chief," he says to the dispatcher.
    >
    > The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a
    >limo going a hundred and five.
    >
    > "So bust him," says the Chief.
    >
    > "I don't think we want to do that, he's really important," said the cop.
    >
    > The Chief exclaimed, "All the more reason!"
    >
    > "No, I mean really important," said the cop.
    >
    > The Chief then asked, "Who ya got there, the Mayor?"
    >
    > Cop: "Bigger."
    >
    > Chief: "Governor?"
    >
    > Cop: "Bigger."
    >
    > "Well," said the Chief, "Who is it?"
    >
    > Cop: "I think it's God!"
    >
    > Chief: "What makes you think it's God?"
    >
    > Cop: "He's got the Pope as a chauffeur!!"

As a humanist I did not mind the previous pope having that German nun as lover.

I am sure people would disagree with you on that point, and I am not just taking about the administrators who banned you for it!

    KB in MOd decisions

Arrogant-One has asked why his ban did not expire yesterday, four weeks after it was imposed. The board has autoban options including three weeks or one month so I auto-banned him for a month. I originally intended to lift this ban manually when his four weeks expired, but decided not to on account of him posting while banned (he signed up an account and made a post immediately after being banned.)

In only extending his ban by three days when normally posting while banned leads to a ban being doubled at least, I took into account that it was probably just a rash impetuous act immediately after being banned, and that if he persisted beyond that we have no firm proof of it (although we do have our suspicions ... )

God KB, you sound like those RLF pseudo lawyers talking about accumulated points, suspended penalities whilst on parole, aggravated penalties for offending whilst on good behaviour bonds etc etc.

JUST DO IT - YOU DON'T HAVE TO JUSTIFY YOURSELF TO ANYONE - ONLY THE ONE UP ABOVE

Any more of this and the banned one will be complaining about getting a sermon about the rules before, whilst and post banned.

That's probably true. That's just the way it goes.

Naaah, he lurrrrrrves it. He sent me an email asking why he was still banned - thought I'd just make it public so he couldn't do a beatup about it when he got back.

    Boris from Bizarre Position thread

Appears to be an illegal position. For white to get the doubled pawns like that he must have made 2 captures. At least 15 black pieces are visible, therefore illegal position.

    A/C
It is due to the queen dropping one just like Pope Joan dropped one whilst on a religious procession, was stoned to death for her special delivery -they thought she was a male or knew and hid the fact so could enjoy themselves behind the confessional.

As for Misogynistic...hmm...I am not quite sure what the meaning of the word is but i think it has something to do with disliking (hatred of) women or denying female roles in the modern society (please correct me if i am wrong). If this is what you really mean, i find the accusation quite laughable since i have always believed in importance of attracting more females to the Aus chess scene. Anyway, have a nice day

Mike, You have got to read between the lines here. Shirty is upset with you bullying me in other threads - you are interfering in his terroritory. He wants me kept fit and springy for our next encounter which will soon boil over in this thread. Put some money on Maxy when he soon meets Shirty in the Championship - that will get you in his good books.
