    Hi Kevin,

Is that is a swindle or just a blunder?

Not technically a swindle. Aurel John should present himself front and centre and present himself and the game prostrate in 'Pits & Shockers' for that one.
There is no cure for leftism. Its infestation of the host mostly diminishes with age except in the most rabid of specimens.

No, it was merely a parallel game to one of the swindle examples Kevin gave. Actually I saw Tony Dowden trap someone else the same way back in NZ in the early 1980s, and that time he made sure of the win.

And closely allied to the hanging 'Tromp Bishop' trap - not that I would know anything about that

    I presume he is referring to any Qa5+ that wins the g5 bishop. For example. 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5 c6 3.e3?? Qa5+

    Right on. Hypothetically, of course

I have a nasty habit of blundering into pawn forks like that one against Dowden late in the opening. That was probably about the fifth time I've done it in a rated game.

Yeah, the B on f4/f5 is not usually well placed unless the d pawns are fixed. Even aside from the fork, the opponent can play e5/e4 with gain of tempo.

I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm sure Herewith, one pawn fork and one Great Swindle Of The 21st Century.

You got a draw with the Tromp!? Quite a swindle indeed.

owned by a 13 year old

I was playing in Queensland lightning and sat down and I saw, chess olympian on his shirt. Not what you want to see in the 2nd round. believe me.

we played some sort of english and I was on a massive queen hunt (yes, trying to get my rook behind his continually checked king). The moment I got it I just took his queen. Then I got mated...back rank with rook. His King was on g3 in front of one of my pawns on g2 and my king on g1. I had chased his king SOO much he had a mate in 1 and in the time control (5+0) I was mated. Talk about angry. You have no idea.

Here is a 5-minute game I played on ICC. After blundering a rook and a piece, I managed to win (I won on time, but in a good position). I don't know if this could be called a "great swindle" as it was just a 5-minute game.
