Inspired by EE's offering here's a mate in 4 for White, which can be counter-intuitive. I once committed about 50 half-decent problems to long-term memory and this is one of them, although I'm sure it's time I updated my DB (decrepit brain).

qp, Skip To My Lou has a thread here http://chesschat.org/showthread.php?t=921. The easiest way is to go to this Chess Kit page: http://www.chesskit.com/software/fensetup.php. You then copy the fen string into {fen} {/fen} tags (but replace {} with []) but you'll have to add two integers at the end (castle rights maybe (?) and the full move count). So for the problem below I put "k7/1pP5/1P6/8/8/K4rPR/1PPPPP2/8 w - - 0 50" into the fen tags. You can see if it's correct by using the preview post button before posting to the board.

If anyone wants the solution to the first problem, gbc put it in invisible ink in post#2 of this thread.

Here's an imaginative and quite famous problem, but very nice if you haven't seen it before. I don't know who it's by but it was shown to me by GM Garcia-Palermo. White to play and win (and no, antichrist, the answer is not 1.exf3).

Clue : Dig holes(alternate) run through the holes and get back to where you started from. I call this the labyrinth problem as the R finally gets lost
