    Hungarian Defence (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Be7)

Does anyone have any thoughts on the correct line for White to play against this?
My books dismiss it as insignificant, but I have found it difficult to crack as White.
    I generally proceed with 4 d4 d6 5 de5 de5 6 Qd8+ Bd8 7 Nc3, but from here nothing jumps out as being the best.
    Any help much appreciated

Ive had this position a few times, normally I try the waiting move h3, basically prevents Bg4 so now black can play either exd4 which will tranpose to scotch gambit lines (1.e4 e5 2.nf3 nc6 3.d4 ed4 4.Bc4 d6 5.Nxd4 where white has a small plus, and h3 isnt a wasted move(prevents Ng4) because in many lines white will setup with Be3,Qd2,f4. The reason I think the bishop may be better on e3 is due to many tricks in the Bg5 variations.

    eg (1.e4 e5 2.nf3 nc6 3.d4 ed4 4.Bc4 d6 5.Nxd4 Nf6 6.0-0 Be7(6...Nxe4 7.Re1 d5 8.Nxc6 bxc6 9.Rxe4 dxe4 10.Bxf7 should win a queen) 7.Nc3 0-0 8.Bg5!? Nxe4!?! not sure if this works but the idea is that Bxe7 is met by Nxc3 and Nxe7 is met by Bxg5) so the bishop on e3 combined with h3 should be fine

    If black plays 5..Nf6 after (1.e4 e5 2.nf3 nc6 3.Bc4 Be7 4.d4 d6(4..ed4 5.c3! dxc3 6.Qd5! Nh6 7.Bxh6 0-0 8.Bxg7 (8.Bc1? Nb4! 9.Qd1 c2 and black is back in the game) 8...kxg7 9.Nxc3 big plus for white) 5.h3 Nf6 now I think white should play 6.d5, the idea being you can close off the center and aim for a kings indian/old indian type position where black cant get in a quick f5, and even when they do its met by exf5,Nd2-e4 taking the outpost. so my game with d5 continued as such 6..Nb8 7.Bd3 Nbd7 8.c4 Nc5 9.Nc3 a5(preventing b4) 10.Be3(threatning xc5 then xe5) b6 11.0-0 0-0 12.Bc2 Bd7 13.a3 Ne8
14.b4 and white looks more comferteble

    hope it helps
