    My endgame technique always seems to be better if I have more pieces than my opponent.

    I don't have anything on c3 for your Bishop to capture.

    (Actually, avoiding your conditional variation is why I didn't play Nc3 on move 9).

    Now if you really want to put your Bishop on c3 with check in this position, that's fine by me!

    If you don't fancy being a piece down, maybe you can find a different 9th move. :-)

    Perhaps Nc3 was just what I *hoped* you would play!

    In any case, I should play 9...Bg7, withdrawing my bishop in shame ... still hoping to justify my silly gambit!
