    http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117....html?from=rss

    6-handed. $13.3million buy-in.

Unbelievable. Blows away the WSOP, the boxing heavyweight title and any other sporting contest you can name.

Well 5 of them will get a *lot* poorer

But you're right, it's pretty obscene when you think of the good that can be done with 13 million.

Yeah, with 13 million you could buy a 2nd/3rd division english football team.

Quick question,do any of the poker world champions actually have that kind of money to buy in?

That figure seems a little out of their league...

Wouldn’t be their own money. They’d be sponsored by car companies, online poker companies, casinos etc who’d benefit from all the exposure.

Must confess I’m still overwhelmed by the obscene amount of money being thrown around but thinking of crap US movies on the train this morning… Independence Day cost around US$70 million to make … this tournament would take longer (I presume?) and sure to be more exciting.
