    crazy problem

    this problem is kinda unique!

the position is the starting position!

    rules:
1)white's turn to move and black never moves!
2)white can move only a pawn. for ex. if you play e4 the next moves are obviously e5,e6... so on. you are not supposed to move any other pawn or piece ie you must play on with the same pawn you choose to play the first move!
3)black's only move allowed is capture with the king or any other piece only when the king is under check!
4)as for the rest normal chess rules apply.

    problem:Checkmate the black king!

Hint:You can capture any no. of pawns or pieces with the help of promotion.
    but remember rule 3.

Nice problem, took me several minutes to solve but once you see the idea it is easy.

The quickest solution I found was 8 moves. If White wants to fool around there are slower ones but the basic idea is the same.

    SOLUTION (in invisible ink)

    Quickest solution and only idea that works appears to be: 1.d4 2.d5 3.d6 4.dxc7 5.cxb8=R 6.Rxb7 7.Rxd7 8.Rxd8#.

    Invisible ink below.

I'm so used to promoting to a knight in these sorts of problems that I found mate in 11 fairly quickly (d4-d5-d6-dxc7-cxb8(N)-Nxd7-Ne5-Nc6-Nxd8-Ne6-11.Nc7) but it took me a few more minutes to find Kevin's mate in 8.

    Invisble ink reply.

I'm impressed that someone came up with a different solution. I'd given up on trying to mate with a knight.

    hitman84, what was your solution?

There is the solution you are correct you can only mate with a Knight or rook.
