Australian National Events Reports

This new thread relates to the tail-end of the thread on the 2004 Aus Juniors in the Tournament news and results forum (around page 8-10)

Through this discussion, it was felt that a written document of everything required of an organiser of a national event would be very beneficial. This would bridge the gap in experience between organisers from around Australia and ensure that every future national chess tournament reaches a minimum level. This way, entrants, parents, arbiters, coaches and the general chess public can get what they want. While many organisers may think they know everything, that's fine but let's get it down in writing so it can help others in the future.

4 Reports will be produced (provided enough assistance is given from previous organisers and ACF officials) on the:

-Australian Championship
-Australian Junior
-Australian School Teams event
-Australian Open

If you are a previous organiser or official that has obviously has some knowledge that can be passed on or if you have entered these tournaments, help us out.

The webpage is: www.unichess.org/reports.htm (no link has been created yet on the homepage) Here you will find a DRAFT report of what the organisers of the 2003-4 Championships did (note it is a draft and there are more spelling errors then you can poke a stick at)

On the website, you mention "ACF Bulletinboard", which is incorrect.

The webform seems to be locked by username and password. (.htaccess)

Jeo: would "Chess Kit Forum" be better?

The webform works fine for me but im not sure whether that's because its on my machine or something. Maybe others could have a go.

the webpage www.unichess.org/reports.htm is all done and we are currently ascertaining ideas for the criteria or headings for the reports.

There is a current list there and it would be greatly appreciated if any input could be made on this thread or via the webpage or email (report@unichess.org)

It would be good to know what people think of the idea of having a report for the 4 national events and whether we are OK with the status quo.
