I expect it to start between 6:45 and 7. Because it will be over so quickly it may be worth waiting a little bit to get a few more people!

That is great. I am going to come but worried it starts soon and miss it. If start at 7 will be perfect. But I will try to come around 6.45PM. Thanks

Both draws were stalemate - Albert and Mark after a long endgame with both with a few seconds on their clocks (Albert was winning) while Adam ingeniously managed to stalemate himself against Chris with a rook and a few pawns against two queens.

Toby led outright from quite early after I fell into an extremely nasty discovered attack threatening mate on the long diagonal against Michael; this cost me a queen and a piece. However I beat Toby in round 12 with a nice (if forced!) pawn sacrifice.

Only one game needed to be stopped for a ruling, when one player picked up their king, moved it to a square keeping their hand on it, moved it back to its original square, took their hand off it and then the opponent claimed a win by illegal move; however, the clock had not been pressed; in the meantime the player had flagged. Game continued with touchmove applied and time restored.

Five people who survived this tournament are still playing casual games! I don't know how they do it! I'm exhausted ...

For Serial ''chess addicits'' 12 blitz games is like a drop in the ocean. At MCC, we had 54-game long blitz marathon and some were also playing blitz before, after...and even between the rounds

This is bullet (G1/1). I think a game at that time limit OTB is more exhausting than a game of blitz! That said I am sure there are plenty at MCC who would play 200 such bullet games in a day if they could.

Quite a few of my opponents tried to run me out of time, got me down to 10-12 seconds, and then were disappointed to find that once the position is a simple forced win I move faster than one move per second.

Great to have another two new members for tonight's quick-rated G15 flat

    5 Nagy, Alex 1439 2.5 10:W 6:W 1:L 4:L 3:D

In my last round game with Jerome I blunder-sacced a pawn and got a strange attack that eventually recovered it. Then in messy tactics I "won" a piece but Jerome got a pawn on the sixth rank. Trying to stop the pawn I sacced a rook to promote one of my own, but he sacced the rook back to promote his, and then he kicked my king around with queen and knight and mated it with 14 seconds left. Amazing game!

Next week rated G10/5 starting 7 pm.

Done, no problems. Ian Little also has a half-point bye for round 1.

The following half-point byes are known in advance: Hay round 2, Bonham round 5.

I was surprised by Will's 6.Bd2 and quickly got a bad position. Had Will looked to press the advantage I could have had serious problems; luckily for me he chose to liquidate instead.
