Can't find any evidence that the question of the longest sentence in the history of the forum has been explored here before (though I know I've kept tabs on it on other forums.)

    Opening bid of 111 words:

That was quite a sentence, Sherry! Enjoy creation supercamp n North Carolina. Will Jono's chess challenge there be blindfold?

User remoteboo has taken the lead as the longest-lurking chesschatter as measured by the difference between first and last appearance. remoteboo joined on 3/01/2004 but had not logged in between 2/12/2006 and my last check of the lurker list on 19/2/2011, but is online at this moment. I am unsure when remoteboo returned thus breaking this record. Depending on when that was, user maskaret may have briefly held the lead in this category; maskaret is now second.

Can we please have a definition of "lurker"? Is it someone who just visits and never posts?

If yes disregard the following questions:

How come neither is on the members list?

Have either / neither / both members ever posted?

Can we have a list of 5 lurkers pls?

I am curious how disgustipated fares!

There are three categories that I keep records for:

    1. Lurker who just visits and has never posted.
    2. Lurker who posts, then stops posting but continues visiting.
    3. Lurker who just visits without posting for a long time, then finally starts posting.

The post above discusses type 1. (Users who have never posted do not appear on the members list).

disgustipated doesn't rate having not logged in or posted since 2009. But if people are still reading the forum without logging in we can't track that.

Primarily as a result of the start of CC corro tournament 10, Sep 1 2012 racked up a total postcount of 200, being the first 200+ postcount since the 202 recorded on Dec 1 2009.

Sep 2 beat this with 205, the highest postcount since the 239 of August 24 2009 (which from memory was largely down to a junior being very silly, with many of the posts being later deleted or merged by me, but the postcount stat just gives the number of posts posted). The most recent cases of consecutive 200+s were in the month of February 2009: 7th-9th (218-215-209), 21st-22nd (302-278) and 24th-25th (205-206). The latter two were just after the start of a corro tournament; not sure what the deal was with the earlier case.

Do signatures count in posts? I believe the opening sentence of Suttree would is a contender for longest sentence and I had that as my sig. for about two posts.

EDIT: Just checked and it is about 30 words short.

And still, no one has satisfactorily proven, that it isn't opposite day.

Only if original, for the purposes of that record. It doesn't count quotes of long sentences by Proust or whoever.

Sep 1-7 racked up 1088 posts which was the highest 7-day total since Nov 29 - Dec 5 2009 (1090). Slightly over half were posts in the current tournament so it is not evidence of an especially high level of action apart from that. That said, rates were above the year average to date before the tournament started, with Mrs Jono not quite the new antichrist in this regard.

There is still no-one near entering the top posters list so I've reopened the poll for a few months.

I see pax and I are pretty much neck and neck in post count. Both have a way to go to catch Igor and the top 10 above him though.
