I just had a look at its posting rate for the last month and if that is maintained it will still take four or five years to pass Does God Exist? When I did the last half-yearly update DGE had just over twice as many posts as any other thread.

DGE has evolved into other subspecies, if they were combined would be more impressive.

And I am plesantly surprised how Janis Joplin has risen from the dead figuratively speaking

We could have broken up the DGE cartel into subtopics but there has long been way too much overlap to make that work.

Thursday was a strange day on the forums. We crashed from 110 posts on Wednesday to 43 on Thursday before jumping back to 82 for Friday. But it was even odder in the Toolbox which has an average of about 27/day for the last week but which on Thursday appears to have received only three posts.

From Jan 15 through Jan 20 we recorded the following daily postcounts:

    100, 105, 104, 104, 110, 104.

    This represented:

    * The longest streak of daily postcounts of 100+ since the streak of 8 that ended Jan 4 2010.

    * The first instance of the same postcount occurring three times in four days.

    * The least variation in postcounts over six consecutive days (as measured by highest divided by lowest). This record now stands at 1.1 and previously stood at 1.16 for the six days ending Jan 18, 2008.

(The record for the least variation in postcounts over seven consecutive days is 1.1972 and is shared, curiously enough, between the seven days ending August 12 2009 and the seven days ending August 13 2009.)

I do not know any easy way to compile stats on post or shout rates by hour of day as the site is configured to return stats as daily, weekly, monthly etc totals but not hourly. There might be a way but I think it would be very laborious if so.

Been a couple of years since I've checked these, so:

Chesschat's Top 20 Lurkers Who Have Never Posted

These are the twenty longest currently established accounts that have never posted, although the owners of some may have posted using other accounts. The length of their lurking is indicated by the current difference between join date and date last visited.

However the owner of the moggy account has now posted using a different account, meaning that every person whose account was transferred here on 1 Jan 2004 has now posted.

When machomortensen recently posted, he would have been second on this list immediately prior to posting.

Of the top 20 when this list was originally posted a bit over two years ago, the only one still on it who hasn't visited since is Allan Russell. The scores of positions below 4 on the original list were too low to qualify for this one, but those in positions 1 (forevergm), 3 (ChessMum) and 4 (terminator) have all visited since. abudhabiproject, Thhhza, JohnH and Highwayman were also on the previous list and have visited since. Of the previous top 20, two accounts (Tritty and Liberace - now rebadged Thunderspirit) have since posted again.

On the day just ended (at least in certain eastern states), 10 March 2011, 195 posts were made, the highest total since the 202 recorded on 1 December 2009.

More than half these posts were made by antichrist (36), Kevin Bonham (25), Rincewind (24) or Igor_Goldenberg (20).

As of yesterday our posts per day average for the year has reached 100 for the first time. This is good given that last year's was only 80.7.

You have 14, two of which were also deleted.

It seems that next is actually me with 8, but nearly all of those were threads that were posted as locked threads (ie moderator powers needed to post from the start).

Deleted threads: you have about 31 excluding duplicates and self-deletions to 15 for Axiom (not counting threads started by hydras) and nine for Sweeney.

You also lead the way in the most removed-from-view threads that are not deleted, with six to four each for Sweeney and firegoat (no one else has >1).

None of these are to be proud of.

This has just been eclipsed as the best of the year by 198 posts on April 7, after it was nearly knocked off by 194 on April 3.
