    unrated tournament,good prize money

we are thinking of holding an unrated tournament with good prize money to entice people to play without having to worry about ratings that way we think players will come and play as they are not risking any rating poins going for the money ,any cooments?

I'm less likely to play in a non-rated tourney and more likely to play in a rated one (money doesn't motivate me as much as rating points do). At our club we offer rated tournaments with $0 prize money ... $10/tourney to enter which covers rating fees and end-of-year awards for the winners, etc.

Quite likely that there are people who're the complete opposite and so you'd attract them. Interested to see how people respond to this, given that we're doing the opposite. Perhaps we're on the wrong track ourselves ...

make the tourney more profitable ...

what if you were to have it sponsored by playchess so that participants merely play for ?
