The answer is H.R. Puffnstuff. In one episode Witchy-poo was expecting a visit fom the Boss Witch and had to prepare the castle for inspection. She also had Puffnstuff held prisoner. Jimmy dresses up as the boss witch and saves Puffnstuff.

I told you I would be impressed if anyone figured it out. (I guess not everyone has HR Puffnstuff on video).

Very very close. See full explanation above.

I suppose you deserve bonus points for getting the spelling of the names right.

I hadn't seen your post before I answered.

I wasn't aware of the full answer, but it seemed like some sort of a name from H.R. Pufnstuf. The only witch I remembered in that was Witchiepoo.

Yes, the Boss Witch was Witchiepoo's one-up.

I realised you didn't see my message as I saw yours when mine was displayed after posting. The time difference is 1 minute but it is probably more like 10 seconds or less.

Quite a coincidence we both decided to post at the same time though, hey?

I had only recently got home from a NSWCA Council meeting.

I just happened to read the thread, made my Tabitha post and racked the brain cells for a sec trying to work out what show it was likely to be.

So it is becoming painfully obvious to me that I cannot catch up to you on post count unless I adopt the tactic of jumping in to the odd thread at random and leaving an AR (GG) type post.
Good, count 1 more for me.

And the relevance to Bill and Barry's references? Now there is a puzzle.

ANSWER > We are all just filling in time, making posts, waiting for Barry's deadline to come around.

You will not believe this GG, but I typed a response and then when I tried to post I found the thread locked. Now who could do that?

Could have been Barry in his moderator role. We are on his high class thread on recreational mathematics, and we are contributing not a jot.

I've made no attempt at this one. It's probably not all that difficult but geometry just doesn't do it for me. All the same I look forward to being impressed by the answers of those who actually make an effort. Bring on the next round.

Cos all other threads are boring. Even junior thread is boring. jenni's avoiding my questions and won't reveal anything. Though I think Father Bill is in trouble. He keep calling someone an s.o.b. and disptick yet all we have so far is hearsay. And I have it on good authority that the aircon situation wasn't as bad as it sounded.

Now GG, this is an AR type post!

The next puzzle is my favourite from a book titled The Canterbury Puzzles written in the style of Chaucer by Henry Ernest Dudeney. If you can find it take a look you might like it.

The puzzle is basically to come up with the lowest number of people who can ride in columns of equal lengths 64 different ways. For example, 30 people can ride in 8 different formations

    1) 1 column of 30
    2) 2 columns of 15
    3) 3 columns of 10
    4) 5 columns of 6
    5) 6 columns of 5
    6) 10 columns of 3
    7) 15 columns of 2
    8) 30 columns of 1

So what is the lowest number of riders required to be able to ride in 64 different formations?

Please provide whatever working and intermediate results you think are interesting.
